We need participants for the Bucksport Bay Festival Parade
Surry Republican Events
Dear Neighbor,
Three weeks ago, Maine voters
went to the polls to choose candidates for the General Election in the Fall.
They also voted on Bond issues effecting our state and STOPPED the so
called “Tax Reform” law.
This law
if enacted, while lowering the top income brackets, would have raised
the lower income brackets,
eliminated deductions, and expanded our sales tax on 102 services.
Although most Mainers are still scratching our heads as to why all the
spending bonds passed, we can celebrate the victory of Yes on One.
Surry Republicans participated
in this election cycle by hosting a Candidate Forum for District 37
Representative Candidates and heard from Bill Beardsley, one of the seven
Gubernatorial Candidates. We
were
the main sponsor of an AD for “Yes on One” which appeared in the Bangor Daily
News. For two weekends, we had “Sign Waves” in Ellsworth for the Yes on One
effort. On Primary Day, we had poll watchers and people with campaign signs at
the polls all day.
We did our part.
Republicans and the un-enrolled who switched party affiliation to vote
Republican can be very pleased that strong candidates and key issues prevailed.
We now have candidates at all levels who
are committed to reducing taxes, government intrusion into our personal lives,
maintaining a strong National security, restoring the principles of our State
and National Constitutions and renewing citizen confidence in their elected
leaders. Our Country and State need all of us to continue this effort until the
General Election in November.
We
must change direction in Augusta and Washington.
There are upcoming events that
we need your help to make them successful. (1) A Public Supper to raise money
for Candidate support. This is going to be on Saturday, August 7th at
the Surry School. No speeches, just good food and camaraderie. We will need help
with setting up, tearing down, serving, and donations of some of the food. To
give us a
hand, please call any of
those organizing this event(see list below). (2) A Meet and Greet for State
Senate Candidate (district 28), State Rep Candidates (district 36 and 37),
District Attorney (Hancock/Washington counties) and a representative from Paul
LePage (Gubernatorial Candidate). This event is in preliminary planning stages
(with Blue Hill Republicans), so look for more info later on. This will be in
July. (3) Parade Participation: The Fourth of July on the 3rd in Bar
Harbor, the 4th in Brooklin, and Penobscot on the 10th.
This is a chance to have Republicans visible and let our neighbors know
we are taking this election seriously.
We encourage kids to decorate bikes and adults to wear Red, White and
Blue and a SMILE!!!
At this time, Surry
Republicans have taken a big bite of Election Cycle Responsibility! We are
asking you to help turn our Country and State around. Take back the founding
principles of the Grand Old Party! There are so many things that each of us can
do to help. Please don’t
let
us wake up November 3rd to find that once again Mainers have
given the majority to Democrats in the House, Senate and the Governor’s office.
Let our motto be: “YES WE MUST!”
