Hancock County Republican Committee

 

The meeting was called to order by Chairman Eric White at Ellsworth City Hall at 7 PM.

Eric led the pledge.

Sandi Blanchette (Secretary) led the invocation.

Secretary’s Report:  Bill Grindle moved the May 21 minutes be approved.  Carter Jones seconded.

Motion carried

Treasurer’s Report:  Grace Shea moved the treasurer’s report be accepted.  Deb Ciampa seconded.

Motion carried.

Vice Chair:  Bill Barker of Surry had been nominated last month.  Steve Montague of Franklin was nominated by Janice Eldridge and seconded by Brenda Breeding.

Steve Montague won in a secret ballot vote.

Jason Levesque:  Candidate for Maine District 2 House of Representatives spoke.   He explained how June 30 is a fundraising quarter end and has asked his volunteers to change their face book picture to  Levesque for Congress.  He has also asked for contributions and for us to invite friends to look at his website.  www.levesqueforcongress.com

Chairman Remarks:  Eric Reported that an ad for Yes on 1 was in the Bangor Daily News. 

 We need a finance chair before we can get a headquarters. 

Sign up for Parades and festivals.  Sandi Blanchette and Mike Navarre are doing Orland River Days on June 26. 

 Other parades include Bar Harbor on July 3, Bucksport Bay Festival on July 17, Brooklin July 4th parade at 11 am.  

State Committee report:  Liz Walker, state committeewoman:   The state would like to know if we support a resolution to support Arizona in its immigration issues.  

Arizona Resolution:  Brenda Breeding moved that HCRC supports a resolution of support for Arizona’s immigration law.  Bill Barker seconded.

Motion Carried

New Committee members:  From Fletcher’s Landing (which to the best of our knowledge did not have a caucus) Rhonda & Donald Loncto.   Bill Grindle moved and Mike Povich seconded adding them to the committee.

Motion carried

Ellsworth: Janice Eldridge nominated and Mike Povich seconded Richard Deckers be added. 

Motion carried.

However, there was a question if Ellsworth had filled it’s quota on members.  Sandi will check how many they are allowed.  Richard D will make 14. 

 

 

Local Candidates:  The following won their primaries and spoke to the crowd.
Brian Langley SD 28, Richard Rosen SD 31, David Johnson (HD 20 which includes Dedham) James Gillway (HD 41 which includes Orland and Verona) Richard Malaby HD 34,  Jackie Spoffard HD36, Janice Eldridge County Treasurer, Matthew Foster DA,  Michael Povich HD 38.

Jeff Cucci:  Spoke regarding the constitution and the tea party.

 

Next Meeting:  July 16 at 7 PM Ellsworth City Hall.

Liz Walker moved and Brenda Breeding seconded adjournment.
