Hancock County Republican Committee
Monthly Membership Meeting

May 20, 2011

The meeting was called to order at Lamoine Consolidated School by Eric White, Chairman. He led the pledge and Gete Thompson led the invocation.

1 proxy: Sara A. DeBeck to Robert Laferriere.

Liz Walker moved and Gete Thompson seconded approving the minutes. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s report: Sandra Blanchette moved and Grace Shea seconded accepting the treasurer’s report. Motion carried.

There were 15 people at this meeting from 10 towns, therefore a quorum was established.

Fundraising Chair: The fundraising chairs resigned. One thought is that towns could do fundraisers for the HCRC. Possibly the town chairs could go to 10 people in their towns and ask 2 $30.00 donations. One for 2011 and one for 2012.

Blue Hill Fair: Perhaps we could hold a raffle. Sandi suggested ordering (and paying for) lobsters to raffle off. HCRC keeps any money over the cost of the lobsters.

Brian Langley: Sandi read the letter from Senator Langley expressing his inability to come to the May 20 meeting due to commitments in Augusta. Sandi will invite him for the next meeting in Bar Harbor on June 17.

Caucus Report: Gete gave a caucus report about dividing the county into 6 districts. She has a committee already working on getting their districts set up for caucuses. They will take 3 weekends and have the 6 meetings then to make it easier for the candidates to come to all their caucuses. Next meeting is June 11 at Janice Eldridge’s home on Park Street in Ellsworth.

State Platform committee: will be in October. Franco asked if we could get the platform by January in the monthly meeting and also so we could take it to the caucuses.

Political Year: Jan-March Caucuses. May: State convention. June: Primary. November: Election.

Robert Laferriere moved and Gete Thompson seconded adjournment. Thanks to Franco Colella for arranging the school for us.

Respectfully Submitted:

Sandra Blanchette, Secretary.
